My Thoughts on Car Culture

So, I was recently thinking lately about how many different car clubs, and groups don’t get along with each other, because of the type of car they drive. I was unable to figure it out. I mean sure you can dislike the car, but why dislike the person, and be hateful of the car, instead of being friendly and admiring the amount of work that went into the other persons car.

I’ve been to several different car events, and have noticed that people have divided themselves into different rows based on what they drive. One will be classic, another will me muscle, another would be imports, and then your super/hypercars in another. And they do go around and look at all the cars, but never really stop and talk to the owners. It seems like nobody is really interested in learning about something that they think they don’t like from the start.

I don’t really like this idea. I think that everybody should at least be able to respect somebodies hard work before insulting it and throwing it on the ground. I also believe that somebody should at least learn a little bit about the cars that they’re knocking before they do it. I’m sure that there are people out there that don’t like Japanese imports, but i’m sure that if they looked at one in depth, they would find something they like.

Now here is where i’ll admit that i’m not the biggest fan of American cars, but I do love them. Given an opportunity to take a Nissan 240sx or a Chevy Chevelle (My Favorite Muscle Car), I would take the nissan, because parts are cheaper then the Chevy’s, and it also has a lot more diversity in what you can do to it. I love everything about the Chevy though, and i’ll never knock it.

Now here’s my question: Does anybody know why people knock other cars? And why do groups and clubs seperate themselves from one another? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for visiting the site, and I hope you enjoyed the read!

Dodge Challenger Rallye Redline

A little bit ago, Dodge released the new Challenger, which has become very popular among the people, and it seemed like people that we’re out to get these cars, wanted more exclusive, and a better version. While the original was a great car, a new version was released, and boy did Dodge deliver.

The New Challenger Rallye Redline boasts a modest 305 horsepower being pushed out of a V6, while still getting 27mpg. It pushes has 268 ft/lbs of torque, which is a pretty good amount. The Brakes and Suspension has been upgraded, and the car has also been fitted with a new set of wheels.

If you move inside the car, you’ll notice the interior has also been upgraded. It has Black Leather seats with a different stitch/layout design, and it also has a different shift know, but all together it still has the original interior. It does look very good though, and definitely impresses.

The exterior however has gotten some major upgrades. The wheels have been upgraded to 20″ 5 spoke wheels, and the car has been painted black with a redline red stripe down the middle of the car with two pinstripes on either side.

Photos (Taken from netcarshow.com):

This car has been made to impress, and it really does. Let me know in the comments what you think of the car, and what I should review, or post about next. Thank you for reading the post, and visiting my site!

That’s right! These awesome group of people have figured out a way to drift in their driveway. A pretty unique way to practice considering the average driveway only has room for two cars. However this isn’t your average driveway, and you’ll find out why in the video…

How To Install LED Foot Lighting In Your Car

One of the ways you can make your car stand out is by installing foot well lighting in your car. This is an awesome modification, that adds some awesome European styling to your car. Here is the video, along with some written instructions:

The first thing to do is to figure out where you want the lights to go. Once you know where you want them, you can extend the wires with the same gauge wire if necessary.

Next, you want to install the lights in a secure manner where you want them. Ours had 3M tape on them, which will hold them in place for a long time.

After you’ve done that you need to plug in the power. Pull out your head unit and find the 12 volt constant wire, and the ground wire. If you don’t know which wires they are, unplug your head unit, and poke around in the plug with a multimeter (on the DC voltage setting) until you find a 12 volt reading. You can also look online, which is what we did.

After you’ve found the wires, splice them, and plug in the new wires, and solder them in place. The method we used didn’t require soldering. If you do solder, bend back the second wire so that it’s inline with one of the other wires, and use heat shrink to secure the connection, and to prevent water or any other garbage getting onto the electrical connection.

After you’ve done all of that you can plug everything back in, and put all the panels you removed to get to the head unit back in. And now when you turn the key to the on position, you should have foot well lighting.

Keeping Your Engine Cool

Keeping your engine cool, is one of the most important, and beneficial things you can do for your engine. If your engine over heats, parts could become way to hot, and basically destroy themselves. It is vital to keep an engine cool.

One of the main things that helps keep the engine cool, is the cooling system. They use a radiator and coolant system. The radiator cools the coolant, before it goes into the engine.

Another system that keeps the engine cool, is the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. What this valve does, is that it takes some of the exhaust gas, and puts it back into the cylinder. Because it can’t burn, and has already been burned, it lowers  the intensity of the flame, and cools the engine from the inside.

It’s important to make sure that you’re keeping your engine cool. If you don’t, it could result in horrid consequences.

Driftin’n'BBQ at the Central Florida Racing Complex

Last month I went to Orlando to a Drift event at the Central Florida Racing Complex. They recently expanded their track, so I had to go check it out, and I have to say, it’s an awesome track. I loved the whole layout of it. Here is the video that I made:

Horsepower and Torque: The What and Why

Generally, when somebody hears the term horsepower, they think “the more horsepower, the better.” And they are correct. If you are building a sport’s car, the more horsepower the faster it will go. But what if it’s torque you’re after? For torque, you don’t need a major amount of horsepower. Torque is the rate at which horsepower is created. For instance, if you have a 100hp car, and it creates torque at 400ft-lbs, that’s enough to tow a major amount of weight out of your 100hp car. Horsepower came from the actual pulling force of a horse. Generally 1 horse, is equal to 1 horsepower. So lets say that you had 1000 horses, and you were able to put them all together to get 1000 horsepower out of one. You would basically have a horse that is 1000 times faster then one alone.

Now we can talk about how you get horsepower. A lot of different things can give you more horsepower. Intake, Exhaust, Fuel Injectors, Turbos, Superchargers, and the list keeps going on and on. You could do all of those things, and see horse power gains. Some of these things though, cost a lot of money, and you may not have the skill. If so, you can move on to the cheaper, and easier stuff. Modifying the intake, putting on a bolt-on exhaust can give you some pretty good gains, and also make your car sound better.

Next, we can move on to torque. Torque is mostly thought of when you need to tow something. The faster you can create horsepower, the more weight you can tow. A lot of things can help you get more torque. Strengthening the drivetrain can make it stronger, so it can handle the weight you’re pulling. Increasing the amount of air flow, can give you more power, and increase torque at the same time. Changing the crankshafts, camshafts, and other components like that can help you gain more torque.

Thanks for reading everyone. Hope you enjoyed!
